If you are going to have any hope in succeeding at network marketing you will need to be a good closer. In other words, this is the time that the sale is made because you ask for it. One way in which you will do this is over the telephone. The thought of calling a prospect on the phone sends shivers up some people's spines, but read this story first before you run away. One top network marketer got into the habit of looking at what his fellow marketers were not doing in their businesses. As he watched his competitors he noticed that most of them were not doing well. He learned by watching people who were not doing well what not to do as well as what to do which is the opposite thing that his competititors were doing.

The aforementioned top network marketer looked into the people who are promoting his company by putting his name, email and telephone number into the competitors' sign up forms. He discovered that only one or two of the people he contacted were willing to call him back. Because he was interested in doing what his competititors are not doing he began to call the leads who gave him their phone numbers and began to convert these leads into customers at greater rates than everyone else had been. If this worked for the top internet marketer there is no reason that you cannot try it with your network marketing business.

Most people do not want to make phone calls. Apparently, a phone call is what people need to be signed up into a network marketing business. If you become the person who is making the phone calls you will be the one with the highest conversion rate in your company. The way to make sure that it does not work for you is if you jump into it head on without sufficient training. Because you are inexperienced you have the greatest chance of making mistakes at the very first meeting. During that first call people make the mistake of asking people to join the business right away which may cost $500 up front. Before you do that you will need to take some time getting to know each other first.

The aforementioned top internet marketer asks us to consider proposing marriage as we are asking people to join our businesses. Would you walk up to a stranger and say, "You are the one I've been looking for all my life. Will you marry me?" Undoubtedly, no. Well, this situation is comparable to asking someone to join your network marketing business when you do not know each other. The best case scenario before you ask someone to marry you is to know that person. As you are getting to know your prospects you will have the chance to make them your customers, not for your network marketing opportunity at first, but with your other products which are a lot less expensive. This will help you build a relationship with the new prospect.

The above scenario started with a phone call. Then you take your time getting to know each other and developing a business relationship with less expensive products rather than your network marketing business. Remember that 95% of all the people you will talk to will not want to go into your business. This is why it can't be the only focus you have because you would be leaving a lot of money on the table that you could be making with affiliate products.
