History of Korea
The Korean Peninsula was inhabited from the Lower Paleolithic about 40-50 years ago. Archeological evidence indicates that the presence of modern humans in northeast Asia dates to 39,000 years ago [1]. The earliest known Korean pottery dates to around 800 BC, and the Neolithic period began before 600 BC, followed by the Bronze Age around 80 BC [2][3], and the Iron Age begins around 400 BC. Korea is considered to be one of the oldest countries in the world.[2]
